VISA

AUSTRALIA

Student Visas

You will need one of these if you are planning to study in Australia for more than three months. You must study full time and pay medical insurance (OSHC) to SCE before you can receive your visa. With a student visa, you can work up to 20 hours per week. Students in some European, Asian, South American and African countries need a special pre-visa check before applying for a course.

  1. Check with the Australian Embassy/Consulate to see if you need a pre-visa assessment check before applying to SCE.
  2. If you do not need this assessment, or you are successful with it, send the Enrolment Form with full payment of fees (details are on the form).
  3. We will send you a letter of acceptance, a receipt and a Confirmation of Enrolment form (COE).
  4. With the CCE, apply for your student visa from the Australian Embassy/Consulate.
  5. Inform us of your flight details as soon as possible, and at least two weeks prior to your arrival.
  6. Homestay details will be sent to you four weeks before your course starts.

Tourist/Working Holiday Visas

If you plan to study for three months or fewer, you can travel with this type of visa or, for some nationalities, a working holiday visa. You can study full time or part time without having to pay medical insurance. Private medical insurance or travel insurance, though, is strongly recommended.

  1. Send the Enrolment Form with full payment of fees (details are on the form).
  2. We will send you a letter of acceptance and a receipt.
  3. Apply for your visa from the Australian Embassy/Consulate.
  4. Inform us of your flight details as soon as possible, and at least two weeks prior to your arrival
  5. Homestay details will be sent to you four weeks before your course starts.

UNITED STATES

To be admitted to study in the United States, all non-immigrant students must follow two steps:

  1. First, you must apply to NYLC for an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility which verifies that you will be attending school in the United States. You MUST enroll in the Intensive Language Program (ILP) in order to qualify for an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility. Please note: We will only provide I-20 Certificates to student who satisfy all requirements.

Apply for an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility
    Register for Intensive Language Program

  2. Once you receive the I-20 Certificate of Eligibility from NYLC, you must apply to the U.S. government for an F-1 student visa. Visas are available from the United States Embassy or Consulate in your home country. Please note: You will NOT be considered for a student visa unless you have obtained an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility.
